In an interview with Radio Sheffield prior to United’s 1-0 home win against Port Vale, his 49th birthday on March 19 was mentioned.
Commenting on going into his 50th year, Clough said with a smile: “If we’re still here this time next year we’ll have a laugh about it. I think the odds on that at the moment are quite slim.”
